Bootlegs Suck

My God, I feel like such a fraud. I didn't realize till now that basically all the anime series I've bought off ebay are bootlegs. I can't believe I didn't realize this sooner! I read an article on how to tell if the anime DVD was legit or a bootleg and it dawned on me instantly....

The series that I own that are indeed bootlegs are Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, GITSSAC:2nd Gig (cries), Trigun, Samurai Champloo, Azumanga Daioh, and Paranoia Agent. I feel like such a fool! I cant believe I didn't catch these hints before! All the series mentioned above basically had "Perfect DVD Collection" written on them, the packaging wasn't that great, 3 disks to a DVD set, Chinese audio, and no company logo, and around $30 each...

GAHHHHH I'M SUCH A FREAKIN' IDIOT!!!!!

This whole bootleg thing started when I was looking up series to buy from ebay with a $50 giftcard I've had since Christmas (thank you so much zaneh~). Part of me wishes I never realized the awful truth. After all, ignorance is bliss. I feel especially bad after seeing the OFFICIAL Ghost in the Shell:SAC + 2nd Gig boxsets. God, they're so pretty! I'm thinking about rebuying them someday. They're each around $50 but I'm sure I'll find a better deal. $50 to me is very expensive. I'm such a cheapo. That's why I have bootlegs in the first place.

Thanks to that article (that will be linked below), I will from now on be very careful when dealing with bootlegs and DVDs on ebay in general. After I use my giftcard, I think I'll buy from Amazon, that way I know I'm supporting the industry as well as knowing the DVDs are legit. But since I'm not rolling in dough...that won't be for a while. I really need a job soon. That way I can buy all the lovely things I want~

So right now the only legit anime I own are Outlaw Star and Great Teacher Onizuka. Holidays are a Godsend.
